A note: unified > integrated

Speaking of PSA and RMM, the current software industry is chock-full of buzzwords. Terms tend to get broadly adopted, why they are even taken for granted! One such over-used term in the last couple of decades is the term 'integrated'. This term has been used across product segments and hasn't always meant the same thing.

In the MSP software segment too, 'integrated PSA and RMM tools' have been prominent in the market for a few years now. However, today there is a need for 'unified' solutions that are easy to deploy, manage, and upgrade — allowing MSPs to spend less time on operational activities and more time on winning new business. But aren't unified and integrated solutions the same? What's the big deal anyway?

There is a new generation of MSP software (unified PSA and RMM solutions) emerging in the market that solves the problem but differently and better, improving the architecture of legacy software. With advances in computing power, cloud delivery, and modern software approaches, unified MSP software solutions are now available. The biggest advantage of such a solution is that they can support multiple MSP processes in a single software — ticketing, client management, project management, network monitoring, asset management, patch management, IT documentation, customer relationship management, etc.

This unified nature of PSA and RMM solutions makes it easier to deploy, manage, support, and upgrade vs. the prior generation of integrated legacy solutions. In fact, the capabilities of these solutions can be extended into new areas, making them a scalable option without all the technical complexity.
